In a recent new interview with GQ Korea magazine, BTS’ Jin answered questions about himself. Here are 10 facts about this warm-hearted, talented star!
1. The most memorable scene?
Answer: Our “IDOL” performance in France. During concerts, fans usually watch BTS normally, but at the end of this particular scene, the fans were dancing together. Jin loves to see them having a good time!
2. Which type of music suits Jin best?
Based on his personality, Jin thinks a cheerful and exciting music genre suits his. For example disco music. But as a vocalist, Jin thinks it pairs well with an upbeat, emotional genre or song.
3. Soloist Jin
In his solo work, Jin can choose the key, lyrics and melody that best suits his voice. As for the storytelling, Jin is “very careful” about what he chooses to sing about as a soloist. He thinks he can only write a story that he deeply empathizes with.
4. Which song made a big impression on Jin?
Answer: “FIRE”! Jin was very inspired by the words “Live however you want, it’s still your life”. He knew that some would hate him just to hate him, but he believed that those who loved him would stand by him.
5. “Awake”
BTS’ song “Awake” opened the door for Jin to become a soloist. He used “Awake” as a way to challenge himself after seeing his members work on their solos.
6. The need for innovation
BTS is constantly releasing new music, performances and messages, but it’s really not easy to stay up to date. Jin accepted the burden of this. Sometimes he didn’t know what to write or what new stories to tell. He felt that his members should feel the same way.
7. Philosophy of relaxation
GQ Korea brought up Jin’s beliefs about the importance of taking time to rest. If he had a month of free time, how would he spend it? Jin felt like he would still need to work on a song or something during the break because he was so used to working out.
8. Retirement plans?
Don’t panic! Jin doesn’t plan to retire anytime soon. In the future, he wanted to see himself retiring to a quiet country village where he could barbecue on the roof, pitch a tent outside and throw the occasional party.
9. An unexpected gift
When Coldplay’s Chris Martin gave Jin a guitar, Jin wasn’t sure if he’d be allowed to keep it! Chris Martin gave the guitar to Jin after Jin commented, “Your guitar is so cool.” He didn’t know that Chris Martin would give him the guitar! The gift was so unexpected that Jin asked more than once if he was really allowed to take it home.
10. New Year’s greeting
Jin starts 2022 by encouraging his “young friends” with a supportive message. He wants them to know they’re okay, and he wants them to let go of the pressure they feel about starting a new year.
