BTS was referring to Usher‘s hit song “U Got It Bad” (from 2001) in their song ‘Butter‘ released on May 21, 2021. Taehyung’s part “This was the part of “Don’t need no Usher / To remind me you got it bad,” was from that song. So, naturally, the reaction of the R&B star was inevitable.
On June 2, Usher uploaded a video on TikTok that keeps up with the beat of the Butter. In the clip, the singer styled in a flashy suit and fur coat as he walked out of the dressing room with a red Solo mug in one hand and a briefcase in the other. Before the song started, he was singing the “Come on, come on” part of the music video.

BTS members, especially Jimin, have declared their love and admiration for Usher in interviews over the past few years. Jimin even expressed a desire to collaborate with him one day.
In 2020, BTS and Usher crossed paths on the Grammy Red Carpet. “I can’t believe I saw Usher,” Suga said during a post-Grammy broadcast on VLIVE. “My hands were so sweaty when we met Usher,” added Jimin. “He was so cool.”
Even though they didn’t get a chance to talk to each other at the time, Jimin had a hilarious account of how he tried to catch Usher’s eye on the red carpet. He leaned forward, awkwardly and exaggeratedly, without getting up. “I really wanted to make eye contact, so…” Jimin commented on these moments.
