As we all know, idols get endless hate messages on social media. Hate speech is difficult to overcome, no matter how old the person receiving it is. But for a child, being hated can be even more devastating. On a recent episode of KBS Museum of Broken Relationships, OH MY GIRL‘s Seunghee talked about the hate he’s had since childhood. In fact, this situation got so bad over time that his family even felt the need to apologize.
Seunghee made his debut in OH MY GIRL at the age of 19 but he had a long history in the entertainment industry before.
In 2010, at the age of 14, she participated in the second season of Mnet’s Superstar K.
And before that, Seunghee competed in two different singing shows in 2007 when she was just 11 years old. The first was Korea Sings, where she was awarded the Excellence Prize for her talents..
The latter also appeared on SBS’s Star King, where she was nicknamed “11-year-old Little BoA“.
We know it’s hard to believe that for a cute little girl with talent beyond her years, someone would insult her with hatred. But Seunghee told that unfortunately he went through all this.

Seunghee went on to say that when he was 11 years old, he read a hate comment that said, “Seriously, don’t live your life like that.” Seunghee said, “I didn’t even know how to live my life back then, you know?”
And unfortunately it didn’t stop there. Seunghee went on to explain the biggest reason he’s gotten hate comments since debuting on OH MY GIRL – and that’s really sad. “A lot of hate comments were about my looks” she admitted. 😢
Tragically, haters referred to Seunghee’s face as “crushed“. “It was the first time in the world that I had seen such a word used to describe someone’s face” she explained. Seunghee stated that he wasn’t hurt too much by these comments, but his family was definitely upset.
The situation got so bad that Seunghee’s family apologized to Seunghee for his appearance. “They were upset that they gave birth to me like this” Seunghee says, “that’s what pisses me off.”
Fortunately, Seunghee is trying to look on the bright side of such horrible hate comments these days. “They’re probably saying mean things about my face because I don’t have any other bad features to comment on” the star says. And no matter how badly the social media trolls treat him, it will never stop Seunghee from gaining fame for her beauty and talent! 💪
