Lucid Dream is a 2017 sci-fi and thriller Korean movie starring Ko Soo (as Choi Dae Ho) and Sol Kyung Gu (Song Bang Sub) and directed by Kim Joon Sung. Lucid Dream lasts 1 hour 41 minutes and its IMDB score is 6.1 / 10.

Lucid Dream is  a controlled dream. During lucid dreaming, when a person is dreaming, she/he is aware and conscious that she/he is dreaming. The term lucid dream was first used by parapsychologist Celia Green of the Oxford Psychophysical Institute.

In the story of the movie,  a father who is looking for his lost child resorts to lucid dreams when there is no solution. In the story, Dae Ho, a father who is very fond of his little son, loses him while having fun with his son in the park one day. There is no evidence of the disappearance. With the help of a detective following the case and a psychiatrist whom he accidentally found in the newspaper, Dae Holusid joins the land of dreams. He goes back to the moments when his child is kidnapped in his dreams and pays attention to what is happening around. Will Dae Ho, who catches so many clues in his dreams, be able to reunite with his son?

Lucid Dream is a movie heavily inspired by the legendary movie “Inception.” It wouldn’t be wrong if we even call it an Inception Spin-off. However, Lucid Drean is a movie that has added some good ideas on top of Inception’s well thought-out infrastructure. The Korean fathers’ fondness for their children, which attracts our attention in Korean movies and TV series, is also at the forefront in this film. A few important plot-switches are played out, and all of them are well founded. We think its IMDB score is a bit low. Lucid Dream is a good movie worth watching.
