BLACKPINK fans trended #ApologizeToJennie on Twitter recently after a Thai news source used Jennie in a tweet about fellow member Lisa.

Earlier in the week, the CEO of BVLGARI announced that YG Entertainment had not allowed Lisa to attend the brand’s events in Milan this year. After the news was shared, fans expressed their reactions to the issue and media outlets published information on the subject.

In particular, a Thai broadcaster called The Thai Enquirer published an article on the subject. However, after posting a tweet about the article, a hashtag of Jennie‘s name was also featured in the post.

Fans wondered why Jennie was tagged since it only concerns Lisa. They believed that tagging all members would be more acceptable, but tagging only Jennie seemed unnecessary and rude.

After BLINKs saw this, they started taking to social media to demand an apology and get the tweet removed.

The Thai broadcaster edited the tweet based on requests, but BLINKs also expressed that they expect an apology. However, the Thai media outlet stated that what they did was not wrong, they just edited the tweet because there was too much backlash.

In particular, others shared tweets from newspaper reporter Sir Cod Satrusayang, since the trend they believe the hashtag #ApologizeToJennie reflects his true stance on the issue. Many fans had screenshots, although some were deleted.

Other tweets are still there and receive engagement even after the first post has been edited.

This issue also raised BLINK’s concerns about YG Entertainment‘s ability to protect their artists. In the past, fans have expressed their opinions on how the company has dealt with malicious behavior. They have criticized YG Entertainment for not protecting Jennie and other BLACKPINK members in the past.

Many fans are waiting for an apology after this incident and asking YG for a word that they will try to protect their artists from malicious comments.
