Famed director Kim Ki Duk died at the age of 59 due to Covid-19. The death of the director, who would have turned 60 next week, has been confirmed by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kim Ki Duk was planning to settle in Latvia and had been in this country for about a month. When he did not participate in a program that he was scheduled to attend on December 5, their acquaintances began to search for him, but since the hospitals in Latvia were strict about patient confidentiality, they informed their acquaintances only after his death (interesting …). The famous director passed away just two days after he was hospitalized.
Kim Ki Duk was the only director to win awards from all three big festivals, namely, Cannes, Venice and Berlin film festivals. We wish our condolences to the family and loved ones of the director who directed important works such as Samaritan Girl, 3-iron, Arirang and Pieta .
