Big Hit Entertainment’s new rookie boy band ENHYPEN has released their second music video (MV) from their debut album for ‘Let Me In (20 Cube). It is viewed 500K times on YouTube in a few hours. In the MV, ENHYPEN members await in a glass cube in their stylish and charming outfits (most notable: a pink knit long sweater, astronaut outfits and a bright star patterned jacket). Watching the cute shots of ENHYPEN’s members back to back, you may think that ENHYPEN may have given up the vampire concept in this video; but that’s not the case! We understand from the light reflected in their eyes at one point of the MV, vampires are over there. We shall be convinced that ENHYPEN is in full swing with the vampire concept this season! Let Me In (20 Cube) is also a love song, you can see the English lyrics of the song below. Now, let’s move on to explain what does the title “Let me in” and “20 Cube” mean?
Let Me In (20 Cube) draws attention with its interesting title! Let Me In is the title of a remake vampire movie dated 2010 (here), but the original is based on a Swedish novel published in 2004 (here) and a Swedish movie released in 2008 (here). I watched the 2008 movie and it was an extremely harsh, chaotic and realistic (!) vampire movie. “Let Me In” represents the fact that the vampire would not get into the house if the owner of the house does not let her in (in the movie the vampire was a “she”). Once she enters the house, she remains as the permanent friend of the owner of the house. In the MV, they openly state that they want to be your boyfriend. Are ready for an eternal love bond with a vampire?
On the other hand we observe in the MV that “20 Cube” stands for the aquarium they are confined into. Most probably this is a depiction of the restrained idol life in real life and the limited mobility of vampires in their fantasy world for this album. Vampires cannot walk in daytime and generally sleep in a tomb in movies. Even at night they hide in the dark waiting for their prey. In the MV they enjoy running free in a forest.
We liked the rhythm and choreography of the song even before MV was released. They presented the choreography of the song to us at the Mnet Debut Show on November 30. If you are curious about that performance you can watch it here.
