While studying at Shattuck-Saint Mary’s private school in Minnesota, USA, she not only became an honor student, but also won various academic and music-related awards.
Wendy also received the President’s Award for Education, signed by then-president Barack Obama, for her outstanding academic achievements and leadership ability.
2. Eric Nam
Eric Nam graduated from Boston College with a major in International Studies and a minor in Asian Studies in 2011, and spent a year abroad at Peking University, the top academic institution in China.
He had accepted a position as a Business Analyst at Deloitte Consulting, the world’s largest professional services network.
However, he decided to take the opportunity to compete in Birth of a Great Star 2 and that’s how his singing career began.
3. Sojin from Girl’s Day
Sojin was one of eight girls in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yeungnam University.
There are allegations that she won the more prestigious Hanyang University, but was unable to attend due to her tuition costs.
4. RM from BTS
RM’s IQ is claimed to be 148 which means he is a verified genius.
It is known that the charismatic rapper scored 900 in TOEIC when he was in middle school, and he was in the top 1.3% of Korea’s college preparatory exams.
He’s also a language genius and has taught himself to speak English fluently just by watching Friends.
5. Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun
Seohyun has been in love with books for a long time, she was known to get up early to read before the programs started.
Seohyun chose former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as her role model and stated that the books helped her endure the hard times of her once.
She majored in theater acting and graduated from Dongguk University in August 2014 and received an achievement award at her graduation ceremony!
6. Block B’s Park Kyung
Park Kyung is actually a certified genius. He earned a Mensa membership with an impressive IQ of 156.
Taeil even revealed that Park Kyung actually calculated these numbers when the financial documents showing his earnings for each month came.
Park Kyung‘s calculations were so accurate that he even found errors in his past document calculations.
7. BIGBANG’s Taeyang
It may surprise you to hear that Taeyang is also an academic. In fact, he submitted a 104-page thesis about his group at Daejin University’s Institute of Culture and Arts for his master’s degree in Production of Performances and Images!
The title of the thesis was “The Impact of BIGBANG 2015 WORLD TOUR on the Sustainability of the Korean Wave”!

Former Wonder Girls member Hyerim is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
As of 2017, he was accepted into the highly rated Department of Translation and Interpretation of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Hyerim also revealed that he achieved a 4.0 GPA in his first year of school.
9. NU’EST’s Aron
Aron was in the top 0.5 percentile for the SAT, an exam used for college admissions in the United States. He scored 2180 out of 2400 and got full marks in the writing section of the exam.
Aron was accepted to New York University and intended to study Journalism, but decided to come to Korea instead!
10. John Park
John Park was a Northwestern University graduate Economics, ranked 20th in the entire US by Forbes magazine.
He was also a member of the acapella group Purple Haze while in college and finished 20th on season 9 of American Idol.
11. Super Junior’s Kyuhyun
Kyuhyun was encouraged by his family to study law, and his father said he would only allow himself to pursue music if he was accepted into a prestigious university.
Super Junior‘s maknae was later accepted to Kyunghee University, one of Korea’s top universities, for a BA in Post-Modern Music. He is currently enrolled in a Master’s program there.
12. EXO’s Xiumin
Xiumin majored in music for his master’s degree at Catholic Kwandong University. Her professors stated that she never missed any homework and attended most of the lectures.
