Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many soldiers on duty were given the option to use their remaining days off to demobilize before returning to the military base. Thus, Xiumin could be deemed to have completed his military service on a date before his official discharge date.
Media outlet MBN Star reported on November 23, 2020 that his normal civil status would be restored after December 6, 2020. Although he is free to continue his daily life while on leave, he will have a few restrictions, such as the inability to return to work due to his military status not expiring.
Xiumin enlisted on May 7, 2019 and will be the first EXO member to complete his military service.
