BTS Members’ Thoughts on Military Service

BTS Members’ Thoughts on Military Service
0

When will BTS members enlist and what are their thoughts on this? In an interview with Rolling Stone, BTS members shared their thoughts on military service, especially Jin, as well as V and Jimin.

Every man in South Korea is required to do military service. Boys have to enlist before their 28th birthday. There are only some exceptions in the military. For example, Olympic medalists or athletes who are successful in Asian Awards can be exempted from military service. Military age is becoming a problem for K-Pop artists. Because if we take BTS members as an example, they have come to a fashion that will take the world by storm, especially in America, but at the same time, the military age has come.

In the year Jin turned 28, in December 2020, “BTS Military Service Law” was enacted, meaning that artists who receive a state medal will be able to extend their military service up to the age of 30 upon the recommendation of the Korean Minister of Culture. All BTS members received the medal in 2018. Therefore, all of them will be able to benefit from this law. In short, the enlistment of Jin, the oldest member of BTS, will be delayed until the end of 2022. As time moves rapidly, it is always in mind that 2022 is very close. On this matter, a research analyst recently wrote about BTS’ enlistment: “BTS members are estimated to be enlisted simultaneously before mid-2022. Considering the impact of pre-produced content before enlistment, actual inactivity will be approximately one year.”. The fact that BTS is making one-to-one comebacks, working at a high pace without ever taking vacations, and carrying out promotional activities 3 months in advance sometimes makes this second possibility, namely the possibility of enlisting together, feel outweighed.

Mentioning that a pop-culture artist recommended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to greatly enhance the image of Korea both in the country and around the world, he can now wait until the age of 30 to enlist in the military, Jin made a statement to Rolling Stone regarding his military service as follows:

“I think the country said to me, ‘You’re doing this well and we’re going to give you some more time. Military service is an important duty for our country. So I feel like I’ll do my best and try my best until I’m called in. I have no doubt that the other members will make a good decision because you know it’s not something I can tell them what to do [If they spend time as the six members] “I’ll be upset but I’ll watch them online and cheer.”

No matter how you look at V and Jimin enlistment compared to Jin, it’s 4-5 years away, but they also said their thoughts about the military and the future after.

V’s thoughts on the matter: “So yeah, we’re going to want to see ARMY as they are now. I’m sure we’ll continue to see ARMY. As for the military or what will happen in the future, we haven’t discussed it in detail among ourselves, but I’m sure eventually there is a way that works.”

Jimin: “I really can’t think of not being a part of this group. I can’t imagine what I’m going to do on my own. I guess when I get old and grow my own beard, finally, when I’m too old to dance, sitting on stage with the other members, singing and interacting with them and our fans “I like to think what I want. I think that would be great too. So I want to keep this going for as long as possible.”

ARMY will be waiting for you…don’t worry…
