BTS’ agency Big Hit Music has addressed the copyright issues raised about “Butter”. Big Hit Music said that the song “Butter” does not have any copyright issues.
It was previously reported on social media that part of “Butter” had the same melody as a part of Luca Debonaire’s song “You Got Me Down” released in 2020.
Luca Debonaire shared on social media that he bought a song from Sebastian Garcia, who is also known as the composer of “Butter”, in 2019. The songwriter Sebastian Garcia’s two separate songs have the same similar melody, raising questions about possible copyright issues.
In response, Big Hit Music released the following statement:
We confirm that there are no copyright issues with “Butter”. It is a finalized and released song after all songwriters have confirmed that there is no problem with the song and there are currently no issues with the rights of the song.
However, we are also aware of the alleged copyright issue, but even so, the music rights still belong to “Butter”.
