Marriage and Divorce) is directed by Yoo Jung Joon and Lee Seung Hoon. Written by Im Sung Han. The series, which was produced in 2021, received 6.1/10 from IMDB. The story of the series takes place around the marriage lives of three women in their 30s, 40s and 50s who are married and successful in their business life.
Three women work on a radio show. In the first episode of the series, and even in one of the first scenes, a woman from the public who participated in the radio show as a guest reproaches another woman, who works in the radio, for being with her husband and therefore being cheated on. Three women, our leading actors, are very affected by this deception, each unaware of what will happen to them. The acting is a quality and gripping in the series, I expected it to get at least 7/10 from IMDB.
Lee Si Eun, in her 50s in the drama, is played by Jeon Soo Kyeong. She is the main writer of the radio show and has been married for 30 years. She got married very young and worked all her life. Her husband, Park Hae Ryun, is a quiet-looking professor.
Our lead actress, Sa Pi Young, in her 40s, is played by Park Joo Mi. Sa Pi Young is a radio show producer. She is very successful in her job and has a daughter. She had problems with her mother in the past. Her husband, Shin Yu Shin, is a very successful doctor and a very romantic wife (at least it seems).
The lead female character in her 30s, Boo Hye Ryung, is played by Lee Ga Ryeong. Boo Hye Ryung works as a DJ on the radio show. She has been married to her husband Pan Sa Hyun for three years, but she is not considering having children despite the pressures of her husband’s family.
Contains spoilers after this!!!: As you can understand from the name of the series (divorce) and I’m sure you won’t say it would be spoiler, I’m telling you that no guy who didn’t cheat in the series and there is no woman who is not cheated on. You would cry “No more!” after facing the events developing in the series. Relationships and people in the series are very intricate with each other.
Most of the issues of marriage and infidelity are mentioned. In the series, you will watch the cheating story of a young and handsome man who can’t get the attention he expects from his wife, the cheating story of a quiet man who has a middle age depression and is overwhelmed by the success of his wife, and the cheating story of a middle-aged man who cheats on his wife by following the devil even though he has a very happy marriage. You can justify some of the three cases of cheating, but there may be points where you cannot understand why a married and happily married man cheats. On the other side of the coin, we see women who are young and psychologically hollow and never think “I’m actually destroying the nest”.
The side characters are also good in the series. The marriage of the side characters, the problems they experience in their marriage, and sometimes the love they have for each other add value to the series.
