IU was born on May 16, 1993. IU celebrated her birthday in a meaningful way by making a generous donation on yesterday’s birthday. IU has donated a total of 500 million Won or $ 440,000 to many associations such as the Korean Pediatric Cancer Foundation, YEOULDOL (a support group for children with rare diseases), the Korean Unmarried Mothers’ Association and the Lonely Living Elderly Care Association.
EDAM Entertainment, the agency IU is affiliated with, made a statement on the subject: “IU wanted to do something warm for UAENA (fandom name) on her last birthday in her 20s to repay the great love she has consistently seen throughout her career.”
His donation will be used in the surgery and treatment of children and adolescents with rare diseases. It will also be used to support single-parent families, older adults living alone, and children who need to be financially independent after leaving institutional care.
This is not the first donation from IU and its fan group UAENA. In March, he and his fans created a 100 million won fund to celebrate the release of his fifth full-length album “Lilac” for single-parent families and the deaf.
