BTS was nominated for the “Best International Group” category at the 2021 BRITS (British Phonographic Industry) award ceremony. It was almost certain that BTS is gonna win. How can opposite happens and the world’s most loved group cannot take the award?
However, at the 2021 BRITS Awards Ceremony, instead of BTS, the American group “The Haim” won the award.
ARMY then reacted on social media. ARMY points to a fact by stating that The Haim group doesn’t have as much fan base as BTS. Some ARMYs even think that the BRITS awards want to take advantage of BTS ‘power by taking a similar attitude like Grammys. Some ARMYs stated that BTS is speaking for the achievements of the records they broke, stating that they do not need the award. We agree!
Arguably, the voting system has changed from simply public voting to an industry-based voting in 2019. It is said that the BTS fan group ARMY in the UK has changed as there is a fear that they will take over a system based solely on public votes. As you can see, the opinion that BTS could not win because the public vote did not take place is strengthened in this way.
Still, some ARMYs said they were delighted to even get BTS nominated.
