You may also be spending on BTS and K-Pop. You may be trying to create a collection. But we are sure that your expenses have not reached the level of ARMY who spent 50,000 dollars  for BTS collection! MTV held an interview to reveal this amazing collection and this girl explained what BTS means to her!

Thuy, 18, from California, has been a fan of BTS since she was little. She started following and supporting the group in 2014 when she was just 11 years old and has been an avid ARMY ever since.

In addition to listening to BTS “at least five hours a day,” Thuy spends more on BTS products than most people spend on college education. On a recent episode of MTV’s Lifestyles of the Biggest Standoms, the California teen admitted to spending “at least $50,000” on the band to date.

On her collection, she spent $30,000 on concert tickets, $20,000 on BTS outfits and more.

There’s a lot that I’ve poured into it.

— Thuy

Thuy revealed that she has collected all kinds of official items, including items from BTS‘ tours, albums and DVDs, fan events, cup covers, handmade needlework and keychains.

I just love having physical things.

— Thuy

She even once said that he even went so far as to buy a copy of the School Luv Affair signed by seven members of BTS. So much so that this album was signed not for Thuy herself, but for a girl named Yoobin.

I’m not sure whose handwriting it is, but I did some research. I think it could be [Suga’s] handwriting… Obviously [Yoobin] is not me, but I really wanted to get myself a signed album, even if it didn’t have my name on it.

Another autographed item she has is an autographed photobook page of Thuy’s bias, Jungkook. BT21 cartoon characters Cooky and Jungkook have reserved a part of their library for Jungkook with polaroids.

Speaking of BT21, Thuy’s BTS collection includes more character plushies than you can count, including multiple Cooky toys in every size imaginable.

Thuy not only collects products produced by Big Hit Music; There are even products from BTS’ brand deals, from Cold Brew to Lemona.

Moreover, despite its high prices, it also buys clothes that members wear to photo shoots or in public. Some of her pieces include a shirt that Jimin wore for Weverse Magazine, a shirt that Jungkook wore on-air, and the Balenciaga sneakers worn by Jungkook and J-Hope. Most of the items cost him $2,000.

I do like to wear a lot of what they wear, even if it’s more expensive.

— Thuy

She spent 500 USD on BTS books, the other part of the collection…

She also spent $ 600 on BTS-themed pins …

$170 for BTS microphones too…

$5,000 for BTS albums…

and she spent $ 20,000 on concert tickets, plane tickets and hotels.

Definitely lied to my parents, maybe once or twice, about how much I’ve spent… Just for my dad’s mental stability,  I have not told him how much I’ve spent. He is probably better off not knowing.

— Thuy

Although Thuy’s collection is now huge and very full, of course it wasn’t like that in the beginning. Thuy says that at first she had a small collection in her room, and then this collection grew a lot over time. She states that she can’t stop himself when he says one more, one more and as a result she has a huge collection.

| MTV/YouTube

Now it’s like, if you walk into my room, every corner, every wall that you look, you’ll probably see them.

— Thuy

Of course, as a true collector, she doesn’t use most of the items she buys to keep them in pristine condition. For example, despite the last pandemic, she never opened his BTS-themed face masks.

| MTV/YouTube

Although some people say that having so many items will make them feel less valuable, Thuy has many items that are meaningful to her. For example, the ARMY Bomb light stick “means a lot” to her because she has been to many BTS concerts with this. She even decided to customize it for BTS’s unfortunately canceled 2020 world tour and applied 7,000 rhinestones on it for 20 hours.

| MTV/YouTube

It’s just like that thing is what you bring to every single concert to let BTS know that you’re there… Even if you took away everything else in my collection, I would still find a way to go see BTS in concert and I would have to bring that light stick.

— Thuy

Of course, even many ARMYs reading this might think Thuy’s collection is overkill, and they’re not the only ones to have a slightly negative view of it. “They definitely think I’m a little crazy,” Thuy said of some people. But at the same time, she added that her loved ones were happy to see her happy, too. As a result, Thuy wants us to know that all the money she spends comes from her true love for BTS.

| MTV/YouTube

BTS means so much to me because they’re involved in every aspect of my life.  Most of my life is dedicated towards them.  Every day I’m doing something for them. There’s truly no one like them. They’re special inside and out. They’re such kind boys. They do so much for their fans. They’re just, to me, my favorite people in the whole world, aside from my family.

— Thuy
