7 Idols Using Vampire Concepts This Year!
0

There have been many trends in K-Pop, some more popular than others. Among the things we’ve seen this year, the “vampire concept” that bands like NCT 127 used as the main concept for the title track on their repackage album “Favorite” seems to have been particularly popular.

Vampire‘ is a classic concept guaranteed to be loved by many fans. Here are all the idols who have benefited from the vampire concept this year!

1. NCT 127 – “Favorite (Vampire)” MV

NCT 127 used the vampire concept to convey deep, endless feelings of love in “Favorite”. NCT 127 gave a lot of emotional weight to “Favorite,” drawing a parallel between the concept and the lyrics – even going so far as to make Mark cry while choreographing it!

2. ATEEZ – “Deja Vu” Halloween Version

For Halloween, ATEEZ released a “Deja Vu” video where they dress up as classic vampires. Yeosang even gave us a dramatic comeback with his Dracula-like cloak in the middle of the choreography.

3. THE BOYZ – “Drink It

THE BOYZ used the vampire concept early on with their single “Drink It” in July. In the video, we see them take on their vampire superpowers in Twilight and get some awesome looks!

4. ONEUS – “Thriller Performance Video

In August, ONEUS released their performance video of their cover of the iconic Michael Jackson song “Thriller.” In the original “Thriller” MV, ONEUS creates a pale-skinned vampire-like look in black leather jackets.

5. MONSTA X – “Kiss or Death”

MONSTA X is one of those groups that seems to be made for dark concepts. They successfully pulled off the “heist” and “killer” concepts with their “Gambler” and “Love Killa” comebacks, respectively, but “Kiss Or Death” aims for a more mysterious, gloomy tone. While “Kiss Or Death” doesn’t clearly show a vampire concept, the style and effects of the video certainly alludes to a supernaturally mysterious aesthetic that goes hand in hand with the vampire look – smoky teleport scenes and concepts like immortality and the like. Maybe MONSTA X should consider sticking to the vampire concept completely, as they are the ideal candidates to do justice!

6. Stray Kids Hyunjin – “Play With Fire” Dance Cover

Stray Kids lead dancer Hyunjin has released a stunning dance choreography for the song “Play With Fire”. The video was clearly inspired by Gothic, 19th century aesthetics, which combined with Hyunjin’s unforgettable performance and passionate charisma creating a distinctly vampire image.

7. Stray Kids Hyunjin – “Motley Crew” Dance Choreography for Studio Choom

Yes, Hyunjin is on this list twice! While her main concept for this choreography is ‘mafia‘, the look he’s wearing definitely seems to have a vampire-like effect – a dark eye makeup and a pale face. He could have said it was the vampire mafia!
