Will MAMAMOO Disband?

MAMAMOO‘s existing contract with RBW Entertainment this week expires! There is no news of the renewal of the contract yet, neither from MAMAMOO members nor from RBW Entertainment. MAMAMOO made its debut on June 18, 2014 with “Mr. Ambigious ”. However, the first single tracks had been released much earlier. MAMAMOO released a collaboration single song “Don’t Be Happy” with Bumkey on January 8, 2014. They released two more collaborations before making their official debut. Therefore, fans of MAMAMOO expect the group’s contract to expire on January 8, 2021 , seven years after its first official activity date.

With days to January 8, 2021, there is still no sound from both fronts. Will MAMAMOO renew its contract with RBW or will the group dissolve? It is still unclear.

Last year, all four members of the group focused on their solo careers. Solar released her first single “Spit it Out” in April last year. Moonbyul released both a mini album (Dark Side of the Moon) and a repackage (門 OON). Wheein has released a successful OST for 2020’s popular K-Drama “Hospital Playlist.” Hwasa achieved the success of reaching number 2 on Gaon with his latest hit song “María”.

Although they haven’t made any official statements recently, Solar and Moonbyul discussed the possibility of renewal on live broadcast last September. Solar said the members love being together. Therefore, he stated that they would discuss whether they would stay together as a group.

It would be really sad if they disband. Just have a look how they are perfect all together. What a fabulous mix of talents they are:
