Born in 1990, member of Girls’ Generation Taeyeon conducted an interview with Cosmopolitan Korea. Taeyeon shared her feelings about being a “role model” as a veteran idol to newly released rookie girl groups and which rookie idol girl group is her favorite.

Question: You have been chosen as a role model for the vocal members of many bands. Despite your reputation as an idol group member born in 1990 and a lasting reputation today, you continue to prove your title as a reliable artist. You have to feel a different sense of responsibility as a K-pop idol who has reached the top, as someone who continues solo promotions and as a senior in the music industry.”

Taeyeon: I used to look at seniors I respected and thought, ‘I hope I can be a person who will have a positive impact on my hoobaes’. I’m sure there are friends who looked at me and decided to sing or are currently training to be singers. I’d be lying if I said this doesn’t put any responsibility on my shoulders. I just want to walk my path successfully while showing my good sides to young singers.

Question: Which of your young singers do you admire most these days?

Taeyeon: I look forward to aespa. I feel like they have some kind of energy waiting to be released, different from what is shown on the outside. Oh, and I really like STAYC. We go to the same beauty salon and they are all really cute.
