Here we present BTS Jin and Jungkook in the BTS x Samsung collaboration Galaxy mobile phone ad. The duo is fantastic!
BTS’s oldest brother Jin and youngest brother Jungkook are like siblings who cannot share the same toy. Apart from this “hyung vs. maknae” dynamic, Jin reflects the traditional style and Jungkook reflects the modern style. Thus, Samsung is trying to reveal the image that it has designed a phone that appeals to every segment.
As Jin steps towards the ringing phone in the first scene, we see the phone standing side by side with cloth, scissors and tape measure. Thus, Samsung hints that they have designed their phone with a “haute-couture” level tailoring meticulousness and craftsmanship. Moreover; Jin draws the desings of a costume with the Samsung’s “S Pen” on the phone screen. So we are instructed that the Galaxy S20 is a phone which is both stylish and functional. In the elegant fingers of Jin, this phone proves itself that it belongs to a gentleman. Despite the raid of all these subliminal messages, our minds are remained fixed on the look of Jin’s face we have seen while the phone is ringing. A facial expression and a style of acting that winks at K-dramas, isn’t it?
And Jungkook enters the room with his unique “aura”. He tilts his head left and right while he is taking his steps, which makes us feel he is going to wiggle. The way he grabs the phone from Jin’s hand and jumps to the other side of the seat is a showpiece.
As Jungkook takes the phone, the room changes to having a modern look with white walls. Jungkook plays a racing game with a gamepad attached to the phone over an XBOX Game Pass account. So we are given the message that this phone is not designed not only for serious (and a bit dull?) tasks but for entertainment as well.
In the continuation of the commercial (or should we call it a short film?), they continue to grab the phone from each other where it turns into a dance recital. This commercial is really a high quality advertisement that will be remembered for a long time. Selection of Jin and Jungkook is also quite fitting. As well as being the oldest and youngest in the group, the chemistry between the two is second to none. They have been bickering with each other for years.
