“Happy New Year” Message from BTS

bts happy new year

In the video released on BANGTANTV on February 10, BTS members gathered to celebrate the new year, the year of the White Ox, according to the lunar calendar (Hijri calendar). At the beginning of the video, Jungkook and V (Taehyung) say they will draw together a bokjumeoni and an ox for the Chinese calendar year. Jungkook takes the pencil and starts drawing. While Jungkook draws the pouch, V draws an ox in it.

Bokjumeoni means bad luck. A drawstring or cotton purse embroidered with various auspicious symbols believed to bring wealth. Because traditional Korean clothing did not have a pocket, in the past Koreans needed a separate pouch, jumeoni, to carry personal belongings. However, the “luck pouch / bokjumeoni” was worn more as a luck charm than for practical purposes. Nowadays, bokjumeoni is given as a gift.

Afterwards, BTS members Jin and J-hope color up Jungkook and V’s drawing. Saying that Bokjumeoni must be red, Jin begins to paint with crayons. J-Hope is panicking, they only have 3 minutes and they are trying to finish fast painting towards the end.

At the last stage, RM, Jimin and Suga arrive. While Jimin makes the frame, Suga completes the missing parts of the painting. They repeat that the symbol of this year is a white ox. RM sticks a sticker to the drawing. We see a trio who are proud of their work.

In the final round, all the members put the finishing touches on the picture. You can see this video of BTS posted on BANGTANTV below.
