EXO Kai left its mark on the first hours of the day. Photos of the capsule collection Kai created with Gucci became a trend in social media. In an exclusive interview with Esquire Korea magazine, Kai shared the inspiration behind his collection and the feelings of owning a collection that bears his name.
Kai said that the focus of his collection was the cute teddy bear “drawn here and there”. Since GUCCI is a top brand in terms of image, he thought that adding bears to the designs would give a more comfortable atmosphere. As Kai’s favorite animal is the bear, he enjoyed adding bears to the designs. He points out the collection is suitable for all ages.
Regarding the teddy bear selection, Kai says: “My fans gave me the nickname “teddy bear” because I’m moving slowly like a bear. At first, I thought,” I’m not a bear. “But then I started using things with more bear characters. I have come to love bears like this! It has become something that symbolizes me – a connection between me and my fans … and so much so that I have a lot in common with bears. (Laughs) I also have a my symbol and a signal between us and my fans. When you think about it, I have many sides like a bear “
Esquire congratulated Kai for being GUCCI’s Global Ambassador for two years. He asked how it felt to have a collection under his name. Kai replied:
“GUCCI has launched a collection for the first time with a Korean celebrity. I am grateful and excited. It is not easy to have a collection dedicated to my name. It is a great honor and a great opportunity. I am very happy to experience them.”
The fans who heard about Kai’s Gucci collection were very happy and shared their happiness on social media. They celebrated the success of having their own Gucci collection since their first Gucci event in 2015 and stated that they are proud of their idol.
